           * OUR FIRST DATE *

I hurried and hurried, not be late
It was our first date…not to make her wait
When she opened the door, I felt such bliss
For maybe tonight would be our first kiss

She was dressed in black, her hair up in curls
Around her neck was a string of white pearls
Handing her a rose, my heart skipped a beat
So beautiful she looked, a face so sweet

Off together, my mind was a clutter
Was trying to speak…and not to mutter
She sat by my side…queen in her carriage
The look of a bride off to her marriage

At a gallery viewed much modern art
"Popcorn Palaces" with snacks a la carte
Sipping fine wine, then she greeted old friends
We probed the paintings for color that blends

The time that we spent was uch a delight
We paused for refreshment…dinner so light
Enjoying the moment, having a bite
Reminiscing, laughing, into the night

At the end of evening, I took her home
The moon or her face, reflected like chrome
Approaching the door, I gave her, her key
There on the steps with her lips…she kissed me
